I thought I’d achieved all of my ambitions. I’ve published a book, I’ve met Khady, have two gorgeous kids and live in my own personal paradise. I get to spend most days mucking about with bits of wood and mud. Then my friend Jamie Freeman contacted me with a request and I suddenly realised this was a chance to fulfil another ambition – albeit one I hadn’t realised I’d had – to be in a pop video.
“Could you film five seconds of yourself holding a sign saying something that makes you smile?”
That day I’d been to the village of Djibonker, pronounced “dij eee bonk her” (if you don’t get it, ask a Brit). But I ended up going for a simpler option.
I can’t help but smile when I watch Khady dancing and she was happy to do her bit. As was Alfie who furiously wriggled.
