This is the first – and probably last – blog I’ve posted from my phone. We have a curious situation where phone internet is working but Internet cafe wifi not – but damned hard to do this on phone, so apologies if the formatting is rubbish.
Thanks so much to those that have bought my book, or are about to buy it.
I write mainly for pleasure (and therapy) but there’s always that little hope at the back of my mind that it’ll sell a few beyond my circle of friends, acquaintances and West Africa fans.
Many of you bought it directly from me, some from the publisher and some from Amazon or similar – and all are fine. Some give me more income, but if I’d rather sell a million on a low paying site than 20 from myself personally, so it’s circles and roundabouts.
For that reason, it’s great to get some reviews onto my Amazon book page. And – according to my publisher – it’s even better to hit them with a bunch of reviews on the same day. I’m talking about the new book – Chasing Hornbills, although please feel free to leave one for “Squirting” if you haven’t done so and feel inclined – every little helps.
We’re asking readers if they could post a review this coming Tuesday 18th October? It doesn’t have to be long. And it doesn’t have to be gushing – constructive feedback is appreciated, but all will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks for the support – I’ll definitely share the love when I’m hanging out with Bill Bryson and J.K. Rowling.
