I just read your blog post “Rocket Stove” and Im interested in trying this out myself. I, too, live in Senegal and have made a mud oven and used termite mound as one of the building materials. I am wondering what the difference is between termite mound cement and termite mound bricks. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment. Where about’s are you in Senegal? Actually it’s the same material. We make the blocks and dry them in the sun – using the mud from the termite mound mixed with water. We then make a similar material that is used as the cement for the blocks. Hope that makes sense….
So, would you say they are the same parts of water to termite mound dirt mixture? I am eager to do some things in a way that the folks in my village could reproduce. And also help the imprint on the environment. Tamba!
Hi – yes, exactly the same. Tamba – one of the hottest places I’ve been. Are you Peace corps?
