There are hundreds of books released every week, but sadly, unless you are a celebrity, if you don’t spend an eternity on promotion then you’re probably not going to sell many. A common question that I’ve been asked this past few weeks is how many copies of SMAC have I sold. It’s quite a decent number, but not nearly as many as I’d hoped. In fact, given that I receive emails almost every week from strangers who have read it, I had assumed that if say 1% of readers would contact an author, I must be selling a fair few. It turns out that almost all of my readers must contact me. Given typical book royalties these days and that I spent at least one year writing it, I’m very much in it for love rather than money. Which is fine, it’s my passion, but…
So, this is a quick shout out to any readers that might have media contacts – newspaper, magazine, radio, television, internet (blogs, review sites, travel sites), anything else.
It could really help me out if you know anyone that may be interested in my book and if so an introduction will be very gratefully received. Every little helps – from the New York times to the local village newspaper. Or perhaps you’re mates with a celebrity who’ll tweet about it… that sort of thing.
I’m not just talking about the UK – the book will be released worldwide and in particular my US publisher (get me!) has asked me if I have any links there.
As always, thanks for your time and don’t hesitate to contact me or ask further questions via the form below.
